HERDSA 2020 postponement

The HERDSA 2020 conference planning committee and the HERDSA Executive have been monitoring the spread of the COVID-19 virus across Australia and the globe.

After much consideration and discussion with input from our event management team, the conference planning committee and HERDSA regret to announce that the HERDSA 2020 conference in Brisbane has been postponed until July 2021.

HERDSA 2021 will be held at the same venue, the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, from Wednesday July 7 to Saturday July 10.

Please mark these dates in your calendar now!

This difficult decision was made in an atmosphere of great uncertainty. While by June/July there may be greater certainty and the spread of COVID-19 may have been contained, we had to act now. The postponement aims to minimise financial loss for delegates and HERDSA, to provide clarity for all concerned and of course considers the health and well-being of our colleagues.

All presenters, currently registered delegates, sponsors and exhibitors will be contacted as soon as possible. Further information will be forthcoming once the conference planning committee and the HERDSA Executive have considered a process to move forward.

This is a huge disappointment for everyone involved. Since notifications went out last week, we have been noting the tweets from delegates excited about the prospect of presenting their accepted showcase, roundtable or poster at the conference, many of you sharing that this would be your first HERDSA conference. We hope you can maintain your enthusiasm and join us in 2021.

Please watch this space and social media for further updates.
