Education-Focused Academics as Institutional Change Agents: Enabling Leadership for Teaching Excellence

This project examines how Education-Focused (EF) academics contribute to teaching practice and institutional change in universities, addressing a gap in empirical evidence about their impact. Using a mixed-methods, multi-institutional design, including policy analysis, surveys, interviews, and case studies, it investigates the roles EF academics play, and the conditions that enable or constrain their leadership. The project will produce a sector-wide benchmarking report and an evidence-informed framework to guide institutional policy, professional development, and recognition of teaching-focused roles, ultimately strengthening teaching quality and academic development across the higher education sector.
