Structure and Staffing

ITaLI reports to the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor and consists of seven sub-teams that align to the core functions of ITaLI, as outlined below.


Typical Activities of the Centre

Course Design and Development
The Course Design and Development group supports the blending of UQ courses and creation of award-winning MOOCs and other online teaching and learning resources in collaboration with school and faculty staff and students as partners.

Higher Education
Our Higher Education group (a team of academics, learning designers, research assistants and postgraduate students) are focused on professional learning frameworksawards and grants, curriculum enhancement strategies and providing guidance on the UQ teaching toolkit to support staff development.

 Learning Analytics
Our Learning Analytics group collects and interprets data about teaching and learning practices and emerging technologies as well as enabling teachers to collect their own data for analysis.

Student Strategy
The Student Strategy group oversees the implementation of the UQ Student Strategy (2016-2020) in collaboration with schools, faculties and other support units within UQ.


Our Evaluation group manages the distribution, analysis ad reporting of Student Evaluation of Course and Teacher (SECaT), Student Evaluation of Tutors (SETutor) and other internal surveys.

The Engagement group consists of ITaLI’s operational and administrative staff who enable the Institute to engage with its partners and stakeholders in a professional and consistent manner.

eLearning Systems and Support
The eLearning Systems and Support group is responsible for the management of the University’s central eLearning services and support, including Blackboard, video recording technologies and other teaching and learning tools.
