Role and Responsibilities of Director

  • Progress the strategic priorities of the Learning and Teaching Centre, the Education Portfolio and the University.
  • Integrate the ACU strategic planning framework into the operations of the LTC, leading and implementing initiatives that are aligned with the business needs of the University that are both contemporary and in line with best practice.
  • Planning and implementing academic staff induction and development programs in consultation with the Faculties and the University Learning and Teaching Committee
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships and cross-functional involvement between LTC and the Faculties in the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) portfolio.
  • Contribution to leadership in the Education and Innovation portfolio through membership of the Education and Innovation Portfolio Executive Team.
  • Work with the DVC EI, Chair of the University Learning and Teaching Committee to oversee the implementation and ongoing review of the University’s Learning and Teaching Framework.
  • Enhancement of the quality and content of teaching and scholarly learning that provides graduates with world class educational and training opportunities, incorporating technology and digital learning platforms.
  • Support data-driven improvements in learning and teaching and provide direction and management of the University’s Feedback on the Students Evaluation of Learning and Teaching Programs and other evaluation programs related to learning and teaching.
  • Manage the processes leading to the allocation of ACU and external Learning and Teaching Awards, Citations and Grants.
  • Lead the implementation and ongoing improvements to the ACU Graduate Certificate in Higher Education.
  • Oversee the provision and facilitation of staff access to information, websites and other resources relating to learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation, student engagement and achievement and academic staff development opportunities.

Structure

Structure and Staffing

The Learning and teaching Centre is composed of four operational teams:

  • Academic Development (7FTE)
  • Educational Design (8FTE)
  • eLearning (8FTE)
  • Evaluation (5FTE)

The centre is supported by two administrative staff.

From time to time additional staff are appointed to the centre, either by external appointment or secondment from the Faculties, to develop and deliver specific projects

  • professional development of staff with teaching or teaching related responsibilities in all aspects of their role
  • support for curriculum development and review, curriculum design, instructional design and the use of educational technology to support student learning
  • student evaluation of teaching and support and coaching of staff in interpretation and use of evaluation data to inform teaching enhancement
  • policy development, review , refinement and interpretation of policies related to learning and teaching
  • managing awards and grants related to teaching excellence and teaching enhancement
  • embedding indigenous knowledge in curriculum
