Education Strategy provides vision and leadership to ensure the University has an active orientation to collectively shape its future advancement of the knowledge and practices of higher, vocational and digital education in this fast-changing world. Education strategy comprises two directorates with a strong focus on educational quality and excellence and digital learning design.

The strategic importance of educational quality and excellence requires Education Strategy to place a dedicated focus on quality assurance and enhancement in both HE and VET. This approach reflects our recognition and understanding of our obligations to maintain quality practices, systems and processes that comply with the relevant national and international educational standards, and support continuous improvement, innovation and excellence. These standards include:

  • The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
  • The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act)
  • The Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015 (HES Framework)
  • VET Quality Framework (which includes the Standards for Registered Training Organisations RTOs 2015)
  • The Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS)
  •  The Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act)
  • The National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 (National Code 2018).

The strategic importance of digital learning and architecture requires Education Strategy to strengthen its focus on product development facilitated by specialised practitioners. These practitioners provide leadership, advice, support and training on innovative practice design for digital learning activities and other relevant pedagogical considerations such as curriculum, assessment and work-based learning in both HE and VET. team members have specific expertise in areas of new technologies such as simulation, gamification, digital badges, augmented/virtual reality, OER, design thinking, agile development, mobile development, remote labs, and media, visual and graphic design tools. The united effort of these roles provides a responsive and innovative digital learning environment that incorporates service solutions which engage and support the learning needs of diverse cohorts of local, national and international students.

Digital Futures and Learning Architecture Directorate

The Digital Futures and Learning Architecture comprises an academic lead, creative digital learning resource developers, a visual designer, digital learning designers and educational product and practice specialists to develop outstanding curriculum, products and services in alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan and the Transformative Teaching and Learning Strategic Core Plan 2022-2025.

The Directorate drives key outcomes for the University, including:

  • Ensuring the University is a provider of transformative skills and learning through the provision of accessible and high-quality learning experiences for all students.
  • An agreed institutional strategy to guide the design, development and evaluation of digital educational products and services across a range of discipline areas.
  • Deployment of a responsive and innovative digital learning environment that incorporates service solutions that engage and support the learning needs of diverse cohorts of local, national and international students.

To achieve these outcomes, the Directorate adopts both a co-design and digitally enhanced approach to educational design that is based on the best pedagogical, curricular and technological innovations. The Directorate drives agile improvements across the product lifecycle to ensure the University is positioned to meet the changing needs of its target markets, achieve growth in student numbers and prepare graduates for success in an increasingly complex, uncertain, diverse and connected world.

Education Quality and Excellence Directorate

The Educational Quality and Excellence Directorate comprises a team of academic and professional staff members who are responsible for the quality assurance and enhancement of quality student-centred educational products and services in alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan and the Transformative Teaching and Learning Strategic Core Plan 2022-2025.
