I am also the AAUT lead in our division and lecturer attached to the Schools of Nursing and Allied Health, Human Services and Sport. My background is in university and work-based learning and teaching, educational program design and evaluation, clinical communication and academic literacy. My academic interests are in higher education pedagogy, technology enhanced learning and teaching, Developmental Evaluation and program design, Intercultural Communication, Applied Linguistics, and Communication skills learning and teaching particularly in clinical settings. Prior to La Trobe, I have taught at the University of Melbourne as a Lecturer in different contexts over the last 20 years. These include my former role as Learning and Teaching Coordinator in the Dept of Paediatrics at the Royal Children’s Hospital where I was fortunate to lead a major grant to improve the quality of medical education (learning and teaching) across the hospital, establish an online GP education program in Paediatrics, and establish a mentor program for doctors. I also have spent many years teaching clinical communication skills to doctors, teaching academic writing and research skills to medical and postgraduate students and was an academic literacy lecturer in the domains of Medicine, Nursing, Arts, Architecture and Economics at the University of Melbourne. I have also spent 5 years teaching in the tertiary education sectors in Japan, China and Vietnam specialising in learning and teaching.
