CAULLT is delighted to announce the recipients of our 2026 grants. This year we received 31 high-quality applications – more than double last year’s number – a strong signal of the sector’s appetite for evidence-informed work on learning and teaching leadership. From this competitive pool, we have selected two projects that directly advance CAULLT’s mission and address challenges our members are grappling with right now.

Strengthening Central Learning and Teaching Teams: A Benchmarking Study to Inform Sector Practice and Leadership

Led by Zachery Quince (SCU) with colleagues from QUT, UniSQ and UoN, this project investigates how central learning and teaching teams are structured, positioned and understood across Australian and New Zealand universities. It will produce benchmarking data and practical resources to support evidence-informed planning across the sector.

Education-Focused Academics as Institutional Change Agents: Enabling Leadership for Teaching Excellence

Led by Gail Crimmins (UniSC) with colleagues from ACU, USYD and MQ, this project examines how education-focused academics contribute to teaching practice, educational leadership and institutional change. It will deliver a sector benchmarking report and an evidence-informed framework to guide policy and practice.

Both projects promise significant impact for our members and the broader academic community and we look forward to sharing their findings and resources as they develop.
