The Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) continue to recognise quality teaching practices, programs and outstanding contributions to student learning.

As member of the Council of Australasian University Leaders in Learning and Teaching (CAULLT), we are writing to invite you to become an assessor for the 2019 AAUT, as your knowledge and experience would be of great value. Acting as an assessor provides you with further professional development and networking opportunities in the teaching and learning field. The knowledge you bring back into the institution is invaluable for the development of future teaching award applications.

At this stage, we are only seeking your expression of interest to assist in this process. This is because assessors cannot be confirmed until after nominee registrations close on Friday 13 September 2019, in order to match applications with assessors from institutions other than their own. Please note that you are not eligible to assess if you are involved in this year’s nomination.

The 2019 AAUT assessment process will take place from Wednesday 16 October 2019 to Friday 22 November 2019, and include:

  • Online Assessor Briefing Session (approximately 10 mins)
Before commencing assessment, you must watch the online Assessor Briefing Session that covers all aspects of the AAUT assessment.
  • Individual Assessment via 2019 Awards Portal
To individually assess the assigned nominations in relation to the assessment criteria. Maximum assessment of seven nominations.
  • Preview Team’s Comments via 2019 Awards Portal
To preview your assessing team’s comments prior the collaboration assessment.
  • Collaboration Assessment via Zoom
The final assessment component will involve individual assessors coming together in a team of three to discuss and moderate their assessments.  Each team will discuss their assessment team’s comments, rating and provide written feedback. One assessor will act as the lead and will be responsible for compiling coherent, constructive feedback for the nominees.
